New York City Street Fashion June 2025
It's been a while since I did my last flaneur session. As always, living in New York means constant husstle and little time for pleasure. I unholstered my Canon EOS 1n and loaded another roll of Kodak Ultramax. This is a cheap but reliable film with a natural palette. The iso of 400 is good enough for a whole day especially during the summer when it doesn't get dark too fast
When I don't have a strict plan, I like to start in Central Park. I'm a park person!
I finally explored the Hallett Nature Sanctuary. It's tucked in near The Pond. There's a waterfall there and you can see birds taking a bath on top of it. It's a very relaxing scene especially during the sunny day when the water glimmers. This photo doesn't give this place justice but I still keep it as a reminder
Another hidden spot in the sanctuary. It's cool to know the places where not many tourists have been even though it's right there
Central Park has one of the largest collections of American Elm trees. This one is my favourite. It stands like an overseer on top of the cliff overlooking the bike path
I like documenting unusual things. The delivery guys doing Zuhr in a secluded place of Central Park. A note to multiculturalism in New York
I sometimes have an intrusive idea that I need to document the mundane things like this Ice Cream Truck so when I'll look at it 20 years later, I'll be like "Wow!", they really had these cars
Going down the 8th avenue.
The first 'fashion' shot. This guy is either the Hypebeast fashion connoisseur or a germaphobe. Could be a combination of both
Here we have a sort of a 'trash glam' street style
A sculpture by Steve Tobin called 'New York Roots'
Look at this guy's shoes. It's something else!
It was clearly lunch time
New Yorkers are not afraid of color despite the popular belief
It was a nice summer day so you'd see people with dogs all over
This lady was so relaxed and enjoying the environment. Love it!
Chess hustlers of NYC
The socks!
This lady looked interesting and I approached her for a photo. She's from Milan and somehow I knew it right away. Look at her Mickey watches, so funny!
Reminds me of the Dutch Gabber fashion or Zef in South Africa (the one Die Antwood promoted worldwide)
I love this shot even though it's technically 'lost'. I usually forget to set exposure compensation when I shoot against sun. I keep these shots as a reminder
Workers is a common theme in my shoots. I don't know what exactly draws my attention but maybe because I worked these job smyself I alway curious what my fellow hard working people go through. And also that they deserve a 'moment of fame'
I don't see many long boards around town, mostly regular skateboards. Idk why longboards are not that popular here
I like the intersection of Price and Lafayette, there's this Gucci mural that's changing every so often
I'm a sucker for fancy hats
Lincoln Town Car from the 80's. There were time when it was just a regular car
Entering Little Italy. The interesting thing that tourists don't know about this area is that most of the workers here are not Italian; they are Albanian. But it's easy for them to learn Italian. Due to proximity, Italy was a primary entry point for Albanian refugees and immigrants fleeing conflict or communism in the 1980s and 90s, where they picked up the culture and cooking styles
The Labubu era. I like to take pictures that reflect the epoch. Sorry for the pompous language. Here's a short note from Chat GPT:
Another reminder to use exposure compensation. I liked the color combination of blue and yellow in this lady's dress. I'd add a red accent, and it would be a Mondrian piece
This shot was the highlight of this session for me. I think she's Italian though I'm not sure. But her outfit is bold and dazzling. Special attention to sneakers. It evokes such contradicting feelings to the point I love it. I call her Italian Disco Girl
Whenever I see another photographer, I instantly take a picture as a friendly poke
This was the last shot in the series. You dont even know how thoroughly I was preparing for this shot only to see her turning away from the camera in the very last moment. She had a great outfit. Wish you saw it. Next time I'll be more nimble

The Labubu era. I like to take pictures that reflect the epoch. Sorry for the pompous language. Here's a short note from Chat GPT:"Labubu is a mischievous, monster-like character with serrated teeth created by artist Kasing Lung, which exploded into a global "blind box" craze driven by the designer toy brand Pop Mart. The phenomenon reached a fever pitch after K-pop star Lisa of Blackpink began featuring the plush pendants on her designer bags, transforming the collectible from a niche hobby into a viral, high-demand fashion accessory."
